He previously held the position of Vice President-Mining Division at Continental Africa Gold Resources Consortium (Pty) Ltd., Senior Vice President-Operations for Leagold Mining Corp., Executive Vice President-Technical Services at Endeavour Mining Corp., Senior Vice President-Technical Services at Aris Gold Corp. and Vice President-Mining at AngloGold Ashanti Holdings Plc.

Mr. Thomas received an undergraduate degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
