Profiel
Dr. Catherine L.
Mann is a Global Chief Economist at Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. She joined the firm in February 2018.
At Citi, she hopes to further explore these topics; in particular the effect on industries, regions, and income groups of cross-border spillovers and individual vs.
collective action.
Her previous research focused on two specific topics in this vein: US external imbalances, trade, international capital flows and the dollar; and information technology and services trade in global markets.
Dr. Mann's most recent position was Chief Economist at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development where she also worked closely with the G7 and G20.
Prior to the OECD, she served in policymaking institutions (at the Federal Reserve Board, Council of Economic Advisors, and World Bank); and engaged in both research and teaching (at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and as the Rosenberg Professor of Global Finance at Brandeis University).
At the OECD, she guided cross-country research on productivity and wage diffusion gaps; synergies between fiscal, monetary, and structural policies; the complexity of relationships between technological change, globalization, and economic conditions; the potential tradeoffs between financial regulation, crises, inequality, and growth, and the risks and consequences of disconnects between financial and real economic performance.
perfor
Dr. Mann received her PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her undergraduate degree is from Harvard University.
