BTI invests in startups in the telecommunications sector, in the form of direct equity. They focus on three investment themes, namely 1) convergence of mobile and fixed networks; 2) machine to machine communication, connected objects; and 3) Internet services providers. They may invest before or after the incubation stage, and favor projects which are highly innovative as well as original. Their chief contribution to the growth of their portfolio companies consists in providing incubation space as well as access to research facilities and expertise within the Bouygues group. They support their portfolio companies through technology, testing platforms in particular, but also in terms of market research, marketing, human resources, legal advisory and reporting. BTI aims for some of their investee companies to become part of Bouygues Telecom in the medium term.
