Clemens Burkart

Mr. Burkart has spent much of his professional career in banking in Vietnam, and over the last 13 years has worked for the representative offices of a German merchant bank, BHF-Bank, the ING Group and, before joining VCBF, with Fortis Bank.
During this period, extensive experience was gained in working with the state-owned and private Vietnamese banks in arranging trade and investment credits, as well as structured and project finance.
Conducting the business required much advisory work for both foreign and domestic companies, and a close understanding of management and operations of private and state-owned enterprises was developed.
The advisory work also evolved in his being elected to leading roles in the German and European Business Associations, which involved close Government liaison especially in the Vietnam Business Forum to assess and improve the regulatory environment.
He is a fully trained merchant banker, and prior to moving to Vietnam, worked with BHF-Bank in Frankfurt for the banks’ emerging market business in S.
Asia.
He holds a Masters Degree with Honours in Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany.
