They work with their operating partners and consultants to thoroughly research the dynamics of a particular industry. The firm examines all fundamental business issues facing a company with emphasis on identifying opportunities for potential growth, as well as the human and financial resources required to capitalize on them. DCM's primary focus is on the assessment of a company's management team's ability to adapt to an evolving and rapidly-changing industry environment. The firm believes opportunities are greatest where certain conditions of change exist. DCM focuses on participating in MBOs, acquisitions/recapitalizations of private companies, later-stage growth capital investments and industry consolidations. The firm's partnerships invest in US-domiciled companies primarily through common stocks or preferred stock with equity features. DCM prefers to invest in profitable companies with strong positions in well-defined markets. For growth capital investments, this earnings threshold is less important than validation of a company's business model. DCM generally does not invest in turnaround situations.
