Robert Goldstein

Robert is a Partner and General Counsel at Social Capital, where he leads all legal matters spanning venture capital investments, proprietary investments, and special purpose acquisition companies.
Prior to Social Capital, Robert was Corporate Counsel in the Capital Markets practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
He represented issuers and investment banks in a wide variety of public and private equity and debt financings.
Robert has played an important role in the development of Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) IPOs, managing over 70 SPAC IPOs since 2016, including Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp.
and its $1.5B merger with Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, LLC in 2019.
Robert began his legal career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP where he gained significant experience across capital markets, M&A, public offerings, private equity transactions, and restructurings.
Robert graduated with a B.A.
in Economics from University of Michigan.
He earned a J.D.
from Columbia Law School, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and was an Editor of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law.
He also earned an LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the State Bar of California.
