Godavari Biorefineries Ltd. engages in the manufacture and sale of sugar and bio-based chemicals. It operates through the following segments: Sugar, Cogeneration, Chemicals, and Distillery. The Sugar segment produces, sells, and exports sugar products under Jivana brand. The Cogeneration segment produces electricity through the generation of steam and power produced from biomass. The Chemicals segment includes bio-based chemicals such as ethyl acetate, bio-ethyl acetate, butylene glycol, crotonaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, bio-acetic acid, and paraldehyde. The company was founded by Karamshibhai Jethabhai Somaiya and Shantilal Karamshibhai Somaiya in 1939 and is headquartered in Mumbai, India.
