Robert G.
Johnson, Jr. has been Chief Executive Officer of Kosan Biosciences, Inc. since February 2006, a Director since July 2006 and President since October 2006.
From April 2004 to February 2006, Dr. Johnson was Executive Vice President of Development and Chief Medical Officer for Kosan Biosciences.
He was Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Corporate Development for Kosan Biosciences from January 2002 to April 2004 and became Chief Medical Officer in January 2003.
From September 2000 to January 2002, Dr. Johnson was Vice President of Medical Affairs and Corporate Development for Kosan Biosciences.
From 1998 to September 2000, he worked at Chiron Corp., including as Vice President of Pharmacology and Preclinical Affairs in 1999 and Vice President of Corporate Development.
From 1991 to 1998, Dr. Johnson was Director of Pharmacology for Merck & Co., Inc. He was a Faculty Member of the University of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1991 and the Harvard Medical School from 1985 to 1987.
He received a BA and a PhD in Biophysics and an MD from the University of Pennsylvania.
