Andrea Santorelli

Mr. Andrea Santorelli is a Head of Financial Investment Directorate at Banca d'Italia.
He joined the Banca d'Italia, Milan branch, in 1976 and three years later was assigned to the Foreign Relations Department at the Bank's head office in Rome.
From 1986 to 1999, Mr. Santorelli managed the Foreign Exchange Dealing Room.
He was subsequently appointed senior manager in the Monetary and Foreign Exchange Policy Department, then deputy head in 2004.
On 8 December 2008 he was appointed Head of the Financial Investment Directorate Since 1985, Mr. Santorelli has represented the Bank of Italy at numerous meetings and in several international organizations.
He has been a member of the Concertation Committee and the Gold and Currencies Committee (now the Markets Committee) set up by the G10 Committee of Governors in Basel; he was also member of the Foreign Exchange Policy Sub-Committee of the European Monetary Institute and is now a member of the Market Operations Committee (MOC) set up by the European Central Bank (ECB).
From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Santorelli took part in missions organized by the International Monetary Fund in Ukraine, Georgia and Turkmenistan.
From 2002 to 2004 he chaired the Monitoring Working Group of the ECB.
He has published several papers on economics and international finance, as well as articles on foreign exchange and monetary policy.
Mr. Santorelli graduated in Economics from the University of Rome in 1974 and for the next two years was a lecturer in Economic Policy at the University of Perugia.
In 1993 he attended the Senior Executive Programme at the London Business School.
