Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. The private company is based in Raleigh, NC. Operating from the basement of the Church of the Good Shepherd at 121 West Morgan St., the kitchen provides over 250 free, hot, nutritious meals daily, Monday through Friday from 11 am to noon, to anyone in need without questions asked. The organization relies on thousands of volunteers annually from diverse backgrounds and depends on food and monetary donations to sustain its operations, using about 8,000 pounds of donated food monthly and purchasing additional supplies as needed. Essential items include canned vegetables, olive oil, spices, rice, desserts, sauces, coffee, and cleaning supplies. Shepherd's Table also offers an "alternate giving" program for donors to contribute in honor or memory of someone. Community involvement is central to its mission, fostering a caring, non-judgmental atmosphere and encouraging financial gifts, volunteer support, and food drives to help meet ongoing demand.
