Abengoa Bioenergía is the holding company. The Business Unit is dedicated to the production and development of biofuels for transport, bioethanol and biodiesel, among others, that employ biomass (cereal, cellulosic biomass, sugarcane, and oleaginous seeds) as raw material. Biofuels are used for ETBE production (gasoline additive), or for direct blending with gasoline or diesel. Being renewable energy sources, biofuels reduce CO2 emissions, and contribute to the security and diversification of the energy supply, while reducing the dependency on fossil fuels in the transportation and helping towards compliance with the Kyoto Protocol.
