John Christian Barrett

Mr. John C.
Barrett is a Managing Director, Wealth Management Advisor & Global Institutional Consultant at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. He joined Merrill Lynch in July 1986, and helps develop disciplined, long-term investment strategies with high-net-worth corporate executives, entrepreneurs and philanthropic organizations.
Utilizing his team’s extensive knowledge, and by accessing resources throughout Merrill Lynch, Mr. Barrett works closely with individual clients to help them actively pursue their financial objectives and those of future generations.
He also guides philanthropic organizations through wealth management strategies that support their missions.
He offers access to philanthropic consulting through the Bank of America's Institutional Investment & Philanthropic Solutions Group.
As a Global Institutional Consultant, Mr. Barrett works with a group of highly experienced Global Institutional Consulting specialists and others within Bank of America Merrill Lynch who focus on helping institutional clients pursue their unique and often complex investment needs.
He currently serves on the firm's Global Institutional Consulting Advisory Council to Management.
Mr. Barrett received his undergraduate degree from State University of New York College at Cortland.
He holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP), the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designations.
