China Orient Asset Management Co. Ltd. (Investment Management) (COAMC-IM) is the investment management division of State-owned China Orient Asset Management Corp., a subsidiary of the government of China's Ministry of Finance. Created in 1999 to safeguard state-owned assets, dissolve financial risks and promote the reform of state-owned enterprises, COAMC-IM is based in Beijing and has branch offices throughout China. In 2006, the firm issued the first asset-backed security in China, based on non performing loans in Liaoning Province. They have strategic partnerships with Bank of China, Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange and Jiangsu Bank. They are a socially responsible firm, helping to improve infrastructure in underdeveloped areas, build schools and provide debt relief for enterprises in poor regions of China.
