The firm was founded in 2021 when Aktia Asset Management Ltd. merged with Aktia Bank Plc. Aktia-IM offers asset management services and investment products to institutional and private customers in Finland and internationally.

Aktia Asset Management Ltd. (AAM) is the asset management subsidiary of Aktia Bank Plc (HE: AKTAV) in Finland. Established in 1997, AAM is located in Helsinki and is known locally as Aktia Varainhoito Oy. AAM manages discretionary accounts for institutions, provides services for third-party asset managers, and manages hedge funds as well as a range of mutual funds distributed through the parent bank. The firm's funds are administered and distributed by Aktia Fund Management.
