Mr. Balk is an employee of The Boeing Company, Phantom Works Division, the advanced technology division of The Boeing Company.
He has been managing the Venture Capital investment strategy for the past five years.
This position required overall management of Boeing’s $255 million global venture capital fund of funds, including research, analysis, investment recommendations and on-going management.
This strategy provided Boeing a window into the newest developments and an early opportunity to leverage them in creating value for their customers and shareholders through technology-focused venture capital funds around the world.
Mr. Balk joined The Boeing Company in 1997 as a strategy and planning analyst for the Information and Communication group at the Kent Space Center in Washington.
In 1999 he relocated to join the strategic planning team of the newly formed Space and Communications group in Seal Beach, CA.
In 2001, Mr. Balk transferred to Phantom Works to join the venture capital investment team.
In August of 2003, he was asked to lead the venture capital investment group.
Mr. Balk holds an MBA from the University of Rochester and a bachelor’s of science degree in business from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
He also is an athlete who has competed in the Paralympic Games and is a member of the Athletes Advisory Council to the United States Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee.
