Mr. Chao is a Partner of Venture TDF China LLC.
He joined Venture TDF in 1999 and has responsibility for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities and for investment and divestment decisions.
Mr. Chao was also the co-founder and a key member of the management team of the TechFinancing Centre, a unit within OCBC Bank Singapore (formerly Keppel TatLee Bank) dedicated to providing innovative debt solutions to high-technology companies in Asia.
Prior to joining Venture TDF, from 1996 to 1999, Mr. Chao was a corporate and licensing attorney at Fenwick and West LLP, a leading technology law firm in Silicon Valley, where his practice focused on representing and counseling high-growth technology companies and venture capital firms.
Mr. Chao received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
He also has a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School and is the author of three publications on technology and business law.
