Jim Nichols

Mr. James R.
Nichols, CFA, is Founder & Partner at Nichols & Pratt Advisers LLP and Partner at Nichols & Pratt LLP.
He is a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee.
In addition to serving as a Trustee of a number of private foundations, he is a Life Trustee of the Museum of Science in Boston and served the Museum as Treasurer and Chair of its Finance Committee.
Prior to co-founding Nichols & Pratt in 1994, Mr. Nichols provided investment advice for the Trust Department for Goodwin Procter, and prior to that was a lawyer in the Boston law firm of Herrick & Smith.
From 1986 until 2011, he was a director of Entergy Corporation.
He was a director of the Foxboro Company from 1980 until 1990.
He is a past Chair and Commissioner of Trust Funds for the Town of Weston and was Chair of the Town’s Finance Committee.
He was a past chair and member of the Investment Management Committee of the Monadnock Community Hospital.
Mr. Nichols graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude in Economics.
He graduated from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the winning Ames Moot Court Competition team in 1963.
He has obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.
He is a member of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations.
