Kent Heggerud

Mr. Heggerud is the Chief Tax Officer and a Managing Director for Cerberus.
In his role, Mr. Heggerud oversees tax strategy, planning, and compliance for Cerberus as well as its affiliated entities and funds.
Since joining Cerberus in 2017, Mr. Heggerud has advised on fund structuring to address the diverse requirements of the Firm’s global investor base, and the structuring and formation of the Firm’s global investment platforms.
He also works closely with Cerberus’ investment teams and external advisors on transaction structuring.
Mr. Heggerud joined Cerberus from Taconic Capital Advisors, where he was Global Tax Director.
In that role, he was responsible for tax planning and compliance for the firm.
Between 2011 and 2014, Mr. Heggerud was at Blackstone as Senior Vice President and Director of Tax in the Alternative Asset Management Group, having previously been in the Global Tax Strategy Group, where his responsibilities included tax planning for the organization and its private equity funds.
Prior to Blackstone, Mr. Heggerud was an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and London.
Mr. Heggerud received his bachelor and master degrees in engineering from the University of Alberta and his J.D.
from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and the Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Business Law Review.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
