Prior to joining Challenger, Mr. French was founder and chief executive officer of Scottish Re Group Ltd.
from its IPO in 1998 to 2004, and he was chairman of the board until 2006.
From 1993 to 2000, he was founder, managing director and limited partner of Maverick Capital Ltd., a hedge fund with more than $7 billion under management when he sold his interests in 2000.
Prior to 1993, he practiced law in Dallas with Jackson & Walker LLP, concentrating in corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions.
He served as managing partner of the firm from 1988 to 1992.
Mr. French has degrees from Baylor University and Baylor University Law School, and has served as a director of numerous public and private companies, including Sterling Software and Michaels Stores.
