Philip W. Malakoff

Mr. Philip W.
Malakoff is a Executive Managing Director & Director of Research at First Long Island Investors LLC.
He joined the firm in June 2007 and is a member of FLI’s Investment Committee.
As a Director of Research, he oversees FLI’s internal analysis of companies and industries, providing guidance and supervision to a team of analysts.
He also leads the firm’s outside manager evaluation process, including conducting research, analysis, and ongoing due diligence.
He is a member of the strategy sub-committees for both long only and hedged strategies, performing company specific research and analyzing company and sector valuation models which he developed for FLI.
He also prepares asset allocation recommendations for the firm’s clients, and has marketing and client service responsibilities.
Prior to joining FLI, Mr. Malakoff provided equity and fixed income research and asset allocation services to clients of Westport Resources Management, Inc., a boutique brokerage and investment management firm.
He was President and Chief Investment Officer of Metropolis Capital Management, a hedge fund, and held various positions in asset management and research at Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. He previously served as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees and an Executive Committee Member of The Long Island Children’s Museum, as well as member of the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Israel Defense Force (FIDF), Long Island Division.
He received a B.B.A.
from Emory University in 1986 and earned an M.B.A.
in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.
