Based in Madrid, Alia is the successor firm to the private equity investment and holding company Inveralia, which started being gradually wound up to allow shareholding families to withdraw their assets. Alia originated in 1997 as the industrial investment division of the Larios Group, a Spanish wines and liquors company controlled by the Gonzalez-Gallarza family until its acquisition by the French conglomerate Pernod Ricard in 1998. Alia is controlled by the Gonzalez-Gallarza family. Other shareholders include high-net worth families who were former Larios shareholders.
