Ruth Cardoso

Ruth Cardoso is a Director of the United Nations Foundation.
She is Chairman of Comunidade Solidaria.
Dr. Cardoso is a Member of the Editorial Board for Novos Estudos, the Joint Committee on Latin American Studies for the Social Science Research Council, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Advisory Committee for the Estudos Feministas, and the Independent Commission for Population and Quality of Life.
She is Researcher and a Director for the Brazilian Center of Analysis and Planning.
Dr. Cardoso is a Counselor of the National Council of Women's Rights.
Previously, she held academic positions at the University of Sao Paulo, the City and Regional Department at the University of California, and the Center for Latin American Studies at Cambridge University.
Dr. Cardoso received a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Sao Paulo in 1972 and attended Columbia University.
