Mr. Bostian holds bachelor's and Masters degrees in economics from North Carolina State University.
In 1981 he completed additional advanced studies in Finance, Operations Research and Public Policy at NC State University.
Mr. Bostian began his professional career as an actuary at GE Mortgage Insurance Company.
He has since held senior executive positions at EF Hutton, Paine Webber, and Security Pacific National Bank.
Additionally, he has served as CEO of several banks and of an early stage medical device company.
While on Wall Street, Mr. Bostian ran investment banking, securities trading and investment research businesses.
He also served on the Paine Webber Investment Policy Committee.
Mr. Bostian is also active in charitable and civic affairs.
He has served on boards of directors for the Washington Area YMCA, Children's Hospice International and the McLean Symphony.
He is a former member of the Fairfax County Human Services Council and is an elder in the Presbyterian Church in America.
