Goldman Sachs Gao Hua Securities Co., Ltd. (GS-GHS) is a Beijing-based securities firm established in 2004 as a joint venture between the leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) and the domestic securities firm Beijing Gao Hua Securities Co. Ltd., led by China-born banker Fang Fenglei. The Lenovo Group, China's largest computer manufacturer, was a key investor in GS-GHS, which was set-up through the acquisition of the operating license of the failed Hainan Securities. The presence of Goldman Sachs in Beijing dates back to 1993, and the creation of GS-GHS gave them a first-mover advantage in the Chinese securities market. GS-GHS offers a wide range of investment banking services to clients based in mainland China, including domestic securities brokerage and proprietary trading in equity, fixed income, currency and commodities. The firm underwrites locally-listed A-share transactions as well as RMB-denominated corporate bonds and convertible bonds. They also provide domestic financial advisory and other related services. The management team comprises Chinese and international investment bankers and securities professionals.
