The non-profit company is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The organization is the national association representing IT and ICT professionals in Sri Lanka. It promotes professionalism, innovation, and excellence within the ICT community by offering various membership categories, professional recognition, networking opportunities, access to technical resources, lifelong learning support, and involvement in policy and standards development. CSSL organizes events such as the National Information Technology Conference, research colloquia, software competitions, tech talks, and forums to foster collaboration among academia, industry, and government, and to support digital transformation and ICT innovation. The society also runs initiatives to popularize ICT among youth, supports tech startups, and maintains an accreditation board to ensure local computing education meets international standards. CSSL upholds a national code of ethics and conduct, is affiliated with regional and international bodies, and provides training partnerships, digital services, newsletters, and community engagement through social media. The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) was founded in 1976.
