Dr. Chris Baker is Joint Portfolio Manager at Caledonia (Private) Investments Pty Ltd.
He began his professional career as a research officer with BHP in Newcastle in the early eighties.
He then gained a Ph.D.
before becoming a consulting geologist with Layton and Associates in Sydney and Senior Geologist and Exploration Manager with Costain Australia.
He then moved to BZW Australia in 1989 as a Mining Analyst and later Senior Mining Analyst.
In 1995 he moved to Potter Warburg (later UBS Australia) as Senior Resources Analyst and in 1999 became Head of the Resources group.
He spent 10 years with Colonial First State, starting in January 2001 as Senior Analyst in both the Australian equities and the Global Resources teams.
In 2006 he was appointed Senior Portfolio Manager with the Global Resources group and ultimately took on the responsibility of managing the absolute return portfolios.
