Dr. Haney was a founder of California Technology Ventures, a $50 million early stage, high technology venture capital fund.
He is a founding member of the Tech Coast Angels, a 150 person private angel investor group, and he serves on the group’s Board of Governors.
He was the founder and manager of 3i Ventures, a successful $80 million high technology venture capital firm, and he has extensive experience in business development and operations management at TRW and Xerox.
In 1999, Dr. Haney was chosen by the Orange County chapter of the American Electronics Association as Mentor/Angel of the Year.
As a director of over 20 companies, Dr. Haney has developed creative new strategies, recruited board members and senior managers, raised capital, solved operational problems, mentored CEOs and VPs of Marketing, assisted with initial public offerings, and negotiated attractive valuations for the sale of companies.
Dr. Haney has been on the Advisory Board for USC’s Entrepreneurship Program since 1985 and is currently an Advisor for SpringBank TechVentures.
He was chairman of the Los Angeles Technology Form from 1994-1997, and a moderator for the Venture Capital Panel at the Harvard Business School Entrepreneur’s Conference from 1992 to 1999.
Dr. Haney holds a Ph.D.
degree in Computer Sciences from Carnegie-Mellon University, a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Colorado State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Ohio Wesleyan University.
