They provide discretionary portfolio management services in certain jurisdictions in Canada for individuals, corporations, trusts, estates, institutions, pension funds, and not-for-profit organizations. Mawer also provides discretionary portfolio management services for US-based corporations and institutions, as well as certain US residents. The firm also provides sub-advisory services to certain institutional public mutual funds, non-public pooled funds, separately managed accounts, or wrap-fee programs that are managed and operated by other non-affiliated portfolio managers or investment managers.

The firm was founded in 1965 as CI Mutual Funds, Inc. and adopted the name CI Investments in June 2005 to reflect its diverse line-up of investment options, including mutual funds, segregated funds, asset allocation programs, structured products and other alternative investments. They are a subsidiary of CI Financial Corp. (TSX: CIX). CI Investments manages money on behalf of Canadian investors and provide them with an increasingly comprehensive Canadian, global and industry funds.
