Jeff Ivers was one of the first employees of Participant Media, the production financing company formed by eBay’s Jeff Skoll in 2004 to wed film, television and web content to campaigns for social action.
Hired as CFO, Mr. Ivers became head of business affairs in 2005, then Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and M&A, before ascending to COO in 2009.
He has worked on hundreds of films and received executive producing credits on more than 20 films, including An Inconvenient Truth, the Academy Award-winning documentary that spotlighted Al Gore’s crusade against climate change.
As COO, Mr. Ivers negotiated Participant’s financial stake in more than 70 films, including Academy Award winner for Best Picture Spotlight, Lincoln, The Help, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and Charlie Wilson’s War, along with investments in other media companies, including Summit Entertainment, Cineflix, the Audience, Evolution Media Partners (with TPG and EMC) and the $250 million Participant/ImageNation Abu Dhabi film fund.
Following an eight year career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co., Mr. Ivers started in Hollywood in 1983 as Corporate Controller of the MGM/UA Home Entertainment Group, later becoming Senior Vice President of MGM/UA Telecommunications.
Mr. Ivers later co-founded Triton Pictures, a theatrical distribution company.
He joined production company Motion Picture Corporation of America as CFO in 1994, rising to COO before selling the company to Orion in 1997, serving as Orion’s Executive VP of Motion Picture Finance and Administration until its acquisition by MGM/UA. Mr. Ivers holds a B.S.
in Economics from the City University of New York, is a N.Y.
State CPA and member of the Executive Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
He has consulted for PBS, United Artists, LIVE Entertainment, Cinetel and Alchemy Entertainment.
