Dr. Marian Fink is an Economist at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
Mr. Fink has been working as an Economist in the WIFO Research Group "Labour Market, Income and Social Security" since 2014.
His research focuses on the empirical analysis of the labor market and social policy, income distribution, and the redistributive role of the state, among others addressing the relationship between the design of the unemployment insurance system and its impact on the unemployment duration and re-entry and the distributional effects of economic and tax policy measures.
As part of the microsimulation team, he is also involved in the development and application of static and dynamic microsimulation models.
His projects include studies and evaluations at the regional, national, and European levels.
In the FairTax project funded by the EU Research and Innovation program Horizon 2020, he used microsimulation to examine the gender-specific effects of changes in tax bases, rates, and units in selected EU member countries.
After studying Economics at the University of Vienna (Magister) and before joining WIFO, he worked at the National Research Network The Austrian Center for Labor Economics and the Analysis of the Welfare State at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the University of Vienna and the University of Linz, where he is currently finishing the Ph.D.
