Global Betting Exchange was established in 2000 by Ireland's leading entrepreneur Dermot Desmond with the goal to develop a global exchange platform for the trading of sports bets. Global Betting Exchange is now one of the World's leading exchanges and matches nearly 50 million sports bets to a value in excess of $7 Billion annually. Global Betting Exchange has built its technology around a networked Broker-Exchange model, and it licenses its broker software platform to gaming operators globally. This networked model works in much the same way as the poker network model by pooling players from many different gaming operators to deliver scale and liquidity. Global Betting Exchange also licenses its software to Sportsbook operators which allows them to access the exchange for pricing and risk management, while continuing to strike bets as principal on their own book.
