Michael McGowan

Mr. Michael L.
McGowan, CFA MBA, is a Managing Director of Shareholder & Investment Research at Crestone Asset Management LLC.
He is responsible for managing Crestone’s investment research team and overseeing the firm’s investment strategy.
With over 15 years of investment management experience, he works with clients to develop their overall investment strategy, provide market and economic analysis, strategic and tactical asset allocation guidance, and portfolio management.
Additionally, he leads Crestone’s business intelligence team, which focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining highly effective, reliable and innovative technology systems in order to support client needs and the firm’s future growth plans.
Prior to joining Crestone in 2017, he was vice president within BlackRock’s Investments and Portfolio Solutions group in New York City.
With a focus on alternative investments, he was responsible for developing the alternative investments platform across a variety of roles including product management, investment strategy, and portfolio construction.
Prior to BlackRock, he was a trader at James Capital Alliance (dba James Investment Research), working directly with senior portfolio managers on equity and fixed income trading, research, asset allocation, and portfolio management.
Mr. McGowan received his Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in finance, from the University of Dayton.
He received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Wright State University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was the recipient of the prestigious Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award.
He is a CFA charterholder.
