Balk is a Principal of Biomedical Acoustics Research Co. He has been Professor of Medicine at Rush University since 1995 and Director for the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine since 1993.
Dr. Balk was Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Rush University from1986 to 1995, Associate Director of the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from1990 to 1993, Associate Professor of Medicine from 1988 to 1995, Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services from 1985 to 1993, and Assistant Professor of Medicine from 1985 to 1988.
He was Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science from 1983 to1985.
