Arcano Capital aims to deliver superior risk adjusted returns by investing in North American and European private equity funds. The firm constructs diversified portfolios comprised of an approximate balance of US and European equity funds. They seek to invest in companies with an established and proven track record, which are market leaders and which have a demonstrated ability to generate cash flow. Their investment process begins with an initial screening of approximately 400-500 funds, followed by preliminary analysis which includes meeting with fund managers and analyzing the funds. The preliminary analysis reduces the number of funds to 80-100, which are then presented to the firm's investment committee. After analysis and preliminary discussions with fund managers, Arcano Capital's investment committee selects some 30-50 funds which they deem appropriate for due diligence. The firm analyzes fund managers' existing funds and track record, their investment strategy and conducts back office visits. The due diligence further reduces the fund choices to 20-25, from which the investment committee will approve approximately 18-20 funds. In the final step, the firm performs legal due diligence, resulting in between 12-18 funds for investment.
