Dr. Ahmed Elsayed is a Senior Research Associate at Forschungsinstitut zur Zukunft der Arbeit GmbH.
He is the Deputy Director of the IZA’s program area “Gender, Growth, and Labor Markets in Low-Income Countries” and the network program area “Labor and Development”.
He joined the IZA network as a Research Affiliate in 2013.
In 2014, he moved to Bonn as a Research Associate and in 2017 he became a Senior Research Associate.
His main research interests are in labor, migration, and development economics.
He is particularly interested in the economic implications of terrorism for both native and migrant groups, as well as gender inequalities in education and labor markets in developing countries.
Before his Ph.D., he worked as a Researcher under the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Research Assistantship program.
He received his Ph.D.
in Economics from Maastricht University in 2015.
