Headquartered in Thailand, it was promoted by the APL Group (the major shareholder). IRP is both an operating company and the holding company with investments in subsidiaries Asia Pet and Petform in Thailand, StarPet Inc. and AlphaPet Inc. (plant under installation) in USA, UAB Orion Global Pet in Lithuania and UAB Indorama Polymers Europe in Lithuania (Europe). All together they have a capacity of 958,000 tons per annum (which will increase to 1,390,000 tons per annum in middle of Year 2009) of PET polymers and are jointly referred to as 'Indorama'. Indorama began first production of PET polymers in November 1995 with a capacity of 21,600 tons per annum. Over the years it has grown from a national to a regional and finally to a global organization. Presently it is among the leading manufacturers of PET polymers in the world. Indorama manages to touch the lives of millions of people around the world through its products. PET polymers are used to manufacture packaging material for carbonates soft drinks, water, energy drinks, iced tea, juices and other beverages and liquids. The total global demand of PET polymers is around 14 million tons per annum with growth rates of 8-9% or equivalent to demand growth of around 1 million tons per annum. The organization has a clear goal to maintain a leading position in the regional markets and enhance its reach to the global market. Today Indorama operates manufacturing plants in the continents of Asia, Europe and North America. These three continents constitute around 90% of global demand for PET polymers. To consolidate its regional presence, Indorama has taken strategic initiatives in year 2007 acquired a PET polymers plant each in Netherlands and United Kingdom in Europe and started construction and installation of a Greenfield plant in Alabama, USA. Indorama will continue to look at future growth opportunities in the BRIC countries. Indorama believes in working together with its business partners (i.e. customers, suppliers of raw materials and technology) towards development of new product and towards enlarging the use of PET polymers as the foremost packaging material. Competitive structure, continuous profitability, access to global markets, competitive sourcing of raw materials, world-class facilities and an experienced management team dedicated to improve the company standards are the key strengths of the group. | - |
