Switch Bioworks, Inc. is a biofertilizer company based in San Carlos, CA. The company's mission is to feed the world sustainably by engineering naturally occurring microbes to become sustainable fertilizer producing factories directly on the roots of plants. The company produces microbes and formulate them into a powder, which farmers rehydrate to awaken and apply at crop sowing. The microbes first proliferate alongside germinating plants, and then switch on nitrogen fertilizer production through a proprietary mechanism.
