Arcadia is an active manager which invests primarily in successful German medium-sized family-owned businesses with succession issues, focusing on the 'Old Economy' rather than high tech start-ups. The firm invests in very successful companies with earnings of at least EUR 5 million which are often world market leaders, protected by competitive barriers. They typically take majority stakes in their investee companies, partnering with the owners to help ensure the future of the company by providing a suitable successor if required, arranging the transition between old and new management and defining the future involvement of the old owner. Arcadia works with a network of intermediaries. The firm's founding partners make the investment decisions.
