The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is a volunteer organization with over 60,000 members in approximately 2,600 clubs across all states and more than a dozen countries. The non-profit company is based in Washington, DC. It unites women of all ages who are committed to community improvement through volunteer service and grassroots advocacy. GFWC’s work covers arts and culture, education, environment, health and wellness, civic engagement, and advocacy for children. Signature programs focus on domestic and sexual violence awareness and prevention, collaborating with national organizations and law enforcement to support victims and influence public policy. The Advocates for Children program promotes child safety and well-being through community projects and partnerships. The organization is involved in legislative advocacy on issues such as violence prevention, women’s rights, environmental conservation, education funding, and public health initiatives. GFWC operates the Women’s History and Resource Center, preserving the history and contributions of clubwomen. It supports leadership development through the GFWC Learning Academy and offers scholarships like the Success for Survivors Scholarship. Members participate in thousands of volunteer projects annually, including library support, environmental stewardship, disaster relief, and community beautification. The organization hosts events such as the International Day of Service and annual conventions to foster networking, education, and celebration of women’s history.
