Investments are selected based on a combination of top-down analysis of market themes and anomalies with bottom-up, individual security selection. HCC is a value investor. Their investment objective is to compound capital at above equity market rates, with lower than equity market volatility and risk of principal loss. HCC uses fundamental, quantitative and macro analysis to identify what they believe are the important themes and anomalies in the markets and then to systematically rank individual stocks on price to normalized (or mid-cycle) earnings to uncover what they believe are the most attractive securities.
