Blackstone Distressed Securities Advisors invests primarily in distressed and defaulted debt securities and related equities, with an emphasis on smaller, less efficiently traded issues. They invest in leveraged loans, second lien loans, high yield bonds, distressed securities, mezzanine securities, public and private equity, and credit derivatives. The firm's investment process uses a variety of proprietary and non-proprietary research models as well as third-party reports and in-house analysis, and tends to follow a bottom-up approach. They conduct an in-depth review of potential investments through 1) analysis of corporate activities and financials, 2) reviews of annual reports, prospectuses and other filings, and 3) meetings with senior management of their target companies.
