Broadview Advisors specializes in equity investment strategies, focusing on core growth strategies that are based on bottom-up fundamental analysis. Broadview is an opportunistic, special situation investor. They believe that companies of all sizes and characteristics are, at times, periodically mispriced for a number of reasons. They also believe that repeatedly applying their investment process, along with a valuation sensitive sell discipline, yields the best opportunity for superior risk-adjusted returns over a market cycle. Broadview manages two strategies: Small-Mid Cap and All Cap. The firm's proprietary "Five Pillar Analysis" is used to determine if a company will be added to a client’s portfolio. Broadview looks for companies with: strong business traits including a high level of recurring revenue, ROIC and controllable destiny (not overly regulated or commodity-centric); a defendable market niche including strategic value, barriers to entry, and difficult to duplicate; attractive growth potential over a 2-3 year time horizon, owners rather than renters of stocks, across all industries; capable, historically successful management; and which can be purchased at a discount to private market value. Broadview's Small Cap Strategy invests in US companies identified through their Five Pillar Analysis with market-caps generally less than $5 billion at the time of purchase. The Broadview Opportunity Fund generally employs this strategy. The fund may invest in stocks of companies of all sizes, but primarily invests in smaller-cap US companies that have substantial capital appreciation potential. The All Cap Strategy invests in companies identified through the Five Pillar Analysis without respect to capitalization boundaries. Investments may include domestic and foreign equity securities, such as common stock, preferred stock and warrants to purchase common and preferred stock; commercial paper; CDs; mutual funds; ETFs; fixed-income securities; municipal securities; government securities; options; short sale transactions; futures; and private funds.
