Based in Frankfurt, the firm was originally established in 1988 as SKA Investment GmbH. In 1997 they were restructured and they joined CSAM, a firm regrouping all the asset management companies of the group. In 2006 CSAM fully integrated their banking business, which now operates under a single Credit Suisse brand. As a result the brand name Credit Suisse Asset management is no longer in use.
