Rainer Thiele is head of the research area “Poverty Reduction, Equity, and Development” and an adjunct professor at Kiel University.
His current research focus is on the impact of large-scale land acquisitions in Sub-Saharan Africa on rural communities and on the allocation and effectiveness of foreign aid.
He has published his research results in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, such as the Economic Journal and the Journal of Development Economics.
He earned both his master’s degree and his doctorate in Economics from Kiel University.
