Garry Boyd

Garry joined Ethos in 1990.
His deal-making and portfolio company experience across spans more than 20 years.
Over that period he has held board or deal-leading roles in over 20 Ethos portfolio companies.
Garry has had particular specialisation in investor relations and fundraising activities.
He played a pioneering role in establishing Ethos Fund II in 1992; the first ‘blind pool’ private equity limited partnership in South Africa.
He has been integral in developing Ethos into its current position through the raising of Funds III, IV and V and leading strategic projects.
More recently, Garry has migrated into a Senior Advisory role, supporting multiple special projects, and remains a core member of Ethos' Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Ethos, Garry worked in private equity, corporate finance and management consulting at ABSA Merchant Bank, Anglo American Corporation and Deloitte.
Garry and his wife enjoy travelling and particularly favour France.
He has recently started learning French.
He has two daughters.
Garry holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Garry serves on the Board of Directors of the South African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.
